LifeCareerValues.com grew out of a values card sort originally created by Fontelle Gilbert. David Reile later worked with Fontelle on an update of the card sort. When David sought permission to turn the card sort into an online activity, Fontelle decided to sell him the rights instead.

Many, including David, agree that the physical sorting of the value cards is superior to the less tactile activity of selecting values online. However, the worlds of career counseling and coaching have evolved so that having an online values assessment is now a necessity. This online values assessment is designed to be as close to the card sort activity as possible.
